Work Based Learning for Adults

Aim

To give you the training, guidance and work experience you need to find work.

Eligibility

You are eligible for this scheme if you:

• Are 25-49 years old and out of work.

• Are 50 or older.

• Have worked less than 6 months out of the past 12.

• Have been made redundant.

• Have a disability.

• Are a carer.

• Are a lone parent.

• Need support with basic skills.

• Need help with using IT.

• Need help with English because it is a second language.

Subject to job centre approval

How you benefit from the the scheme

As a WBL learner you get:

• £10 a week on top of your benefits.

• Help with travel expenses.

• Work "tasters".

• Training in basic skills if necessary.

• Specific job seeking skills such as CV writing and interview technique.

• Time off to attend interviews.

• Training towards a recognised qualification such as City & Guilds eQuals "Certificate for IT Users" and ECDL at level 1 or 2.

10-12 Weeks.
